Hi, I’m

Haverly Groothoff!

I am a North Carolinian born and raised, and I currently reside in Winston-Salem with my sweet husband, Jonathan, and our beloved tuxedo cat, Peter.

I took an extended (3 year) break from Appalachian State University when I was halfway through my degree. During this time, I farmed near Boone, NC with the wonderful @mountainwisenc for 3 seasons, and a passion for growing + cooking food was born!

When the farm was tucked away to rest in winters 2021 & 2022, I completed my Labor and Postpartum Certifications with the acclaimed ProDoula!

I then worked part time with @highcountrydoulas and received such valuable experience and mentorship as I entered the world of birth-work.

Since then, I re-enrolled at ASU and completed my degree in Nutrition (May 2025), worked many an odd job, nannied the sweetest children, and attended births as opportunities arose. In winter of 2024, it seemed just the right time to jump into doula practice full-time with both feet. Here we are, and I’m glad you’re here!!

Birth count: 18 so far!

The meaning behind “Haskins” Doula Co:

Haskins is my maiden middle name, and it was my Mama’s maiden last name. Haskins means “God’s Kettle”- a vessel in which comforting, medicinal herbs are brewed for the warmth and nourishment of the one who partakes. My prayer for Haskins Doula Co is exactly that- that my life and my work would be a vessel through which God brings heavenly comfort and healing through earthly service and care!
