Hi, I am Haverly Groothoff!
I am a North Carolinian born and raised, and I currently reside in Winston-Salem with my sweet husband, Jonathan, and our beloved tuxedo cat, Peter.
I serendipitously stumbled upon Doula practice during the pandemic. I was freshly dropped-out of college, farming full-time at the beautiful Mountainwise Farm. When the farm was tucked away for winter, I completed my initial doula certification and struck an immense sense of purpose and belonging. I attended births as opportunities arose, working both with a local agency and independently. In winter of 2024, my husband and I felt a distinct calling to create Haskins Doula Co, to pursue full-time practice. I am humbled and forever pinching myself that this is the path I find my feet on!
Walking alongside 31 (23 births, 3 labor prep, 6 postpartum clients) blossoming families has been one of the highest honors and joys of my life thus far.
The story behind Haskins Doula Co:
Haskins is my maiden middle name, and it was my Mama’s maiden last name. Haskins means “God’s Kettle”- a vessel in which comforting, medicinal herbs are brewed for the warmth and nourishment of the one who partakes. My prayer for Haskins Doula Co is exactly that- that my life and my work would be a vessel through which God brings heavenly comfort and healing through earthly service and care!
